Provost Academy South Carolina Reaches Half-Way Point for Enrollment

500 Students Already Sign Up for State's New Online Public High School

Provost Academy, South Carolina's newest free online public high school, has reached the half-way point in student enrollments in just six weeks. Already, 500 students and their families have chosen the engaging, flexible and quality online learning experience offered by Provost Academy. The school has an enrollment limit of 1000 students.

According to Dr. Darrell Johnson, Executive Director of Provost Academy, and the former superintendent of the Orangeburg (SC) Consolidated School District #4, "When parents are provided a quality choice for their children's education, they choose the school best suited for their child to achieve academic success and prepare for the future. I know PASC will meet the needs of both the student and the parent, and it is clear that 500 families have already decided that Provost Academy is the best choice."

Provost Academy South Carolina is a new state-authorized public online school that is free of charge to residents of South Carolina and offers high school students the public school choice of an engaging, adaptable and quality online learning experience. Students work toward their regular public high school diploma, recognized by colleges and employers, as they would in a traditional school, but in the convenient, safe environment of their own home through computer-based educational programs.

"During my thirty-plus years in education as both an administrator and teacher, I have witnessed how online learning can revolutionize public education," Dr. Johnson said. "Students need and deserve the choice that best matches their learning style, and online learning offers a richer experience, personalized curriculum, and a greater variety of coursework than students might find in a traditional classroom."
